Importing a Suzuki
Looking to import a Suzuki to the Netherlands? At SCL Rotterdam, we make it happen without the hassle. Suzuki is officially available in the Netherlands, but the Japanese home market and other international markets offer models not available here. From the Jimny in specific versions to kei cars sold exclusively in Japan: there are good reasons to look beyond the Dutch Suzuki dealer. We handle the entire import process from A to Z.
Why import a Suzuki?
Suzuki has a broad international presence, but by no means all models are sold in the Netherlands. In Japan, Suzuki sells dozens of kei cars and light vehicles that have never been shipped to Europe. Models such as the Every, Wagon R, Spacia and Alto are exclusive to the Japanese market. In Germany, Belgium and Australia, there are sometimes better deals on models such as the Vitara, S-Cross and Across than on the Dutch market. And second-hand classic Suzukis such as the SJ series, the Samurai and the original Vitara are sometimes better preserved in Japan and Australia than here.
An honest note about the Jimny
The Suzuki Jimny is one of the most sought-after cars for import. But be aware of the situation: Suzuki Germany actively pursues legal action against the parallel import of new Jimnys from outside the EU into Europe. The new Jimny does not meet European Euro 7 emissions standards or the GSR2 safety regulations, making it non-homologable for European roads as a new vehicle. A second-hand Jimny that has already been registered outside the EU can in some cases be registered in the Netherlands, but this is complex and requires specific legal and technical guidance. Contact us for honest advice about your specific situation before making a purchase.
Why choose SCL Rotterdam as your Suzuki importer?
Full service, everything under one roof
At SCL Rotterdam, we combine over 15 years of import experience with a practical approach. Our service covers not just the transport, but also the complete customs clearance, storage and any technical modifications in our own workshop. One point of contact, no fuss.
Experience with Japanese and Australian imports
Depending on the model, Suzukis come from Japan, India or other production plants. We know the export procedures, the required documents and the technical modifications needed for Dutch road approval. Read more about how we import vehicles.
Support with purchase and modifications
Have you not yet found your Suzuki? SCL Rotterdam offers professional purchase guidance. We help you find the right car and can arrange a check before it goes on transport. Suzukis from outside the EU sometimes require modifications for European roads, including lighting and emissions documentation. Our workshop handles that expertly.
Cost of importing a Suzuki
Costs depend on the model, the country of origin and the services you choose. For a Suzuki from Germany or another EU country, import costs are low. For models from Japan or Australia, more steps are involved. You can request a no-obligation quote for an exact price. Transparent and no hidden costs.
Transport options for your Suzuki
Container transport and Roll-on/Roll-off transport (Ro-Ro)
For a Suzuki from Europe, road transport is often the most efficient option. For models from Japan or Australia, we offer Ro-Ro transport and container transport. Ro-Ro is the standard route for Japanese imports. We advise on the best option for your situation and always recommend transport insurance.
Global ports and speed of delivery
We import vehicles from ports all over the world. Whether your Suzuki is coming from Japan, Australia or Germany, we arrange the transport to Rotterdam. Our experience with these routes ensures your car arrives quickly and safely.
Advantages of SCL Rotterdam
Own storage facilities and fast customs clearance
We have our own facilities for safe storage and keep the entire customs process in-house. Our full service package also includes Dutch registration and tax declaration, using a favourable calculation method to keep the tax liability as low as possible.
What to watch out for when importing a Suzuki

We also offer a payment service so you can handle the purchase of your Suzuki safely and without complications. This gives you extra certainty that the transaction goes smoothly.
Popular Suzuki models to import
Clients regularly import the following Suzuki models through SCL Rotterdam:
- Suzuki Jimny (second-hand) – note: new Jimnys cannot be homologated for Europe due to emissions rules and Suzuki's active legal policy against parallel import; second-hand examples already registered outside the EU may in certain cases be registered in the Netherlands
- Suzuki Wagon R and Spacia – Japanese kei cars with surprising interior space, available only via Japanese import
- Suzuki Every and Super Carry – compact Japanese vans and minibuses, popular with hobbyists and small businesses
- Suzuki SJ series and Samurai – classic off-roaders better preserved in Japan and Australia than here
- Suzuki Vitara (first and second generation) – the compact SUV classic, interesting as a second-hand import from Japan or Australia
- Suzuki Swift Sport (Japanese spec) – sometimes with different trim levels or turbo engines than the European version
- Suzuki Across – the plug-in hybrid SUV, sometimes more competitively priced in Germany or Belgium than in the Netherlands
