Not all cars can be imported permanently into the U.S.A. or Canada. Read more about the conditions below.

Conditions to import your car into the United States

To be able to import a car into the United States of America, 1 of the following 2 requirements must be met:

  • The vehicle is originally from / manufactured in the United States of America and you are able to prove this using a copy of the original Title or a Certificate of Origin
  • The vehicle is older than 25 years of age

If your vehicle does not comply to one of these two conditions it is only possible to import the vehicle with a maximum of 1 year. How you will use the vehicle in the USA needs to meet certain other requirements and you need to request a Nonresident Temporary Importation Approval Letter from the EPA (the United States Environmental Protection Agency). Please feel free to contact us for additional information.

Conditions to import your car into Canada

To import a car into Canada, 1 of the following 2 requirements must be met:

  • The vehicle is originally from / manufactured in Canada and you are able to prove this using a copy of the original Title or a Certificate of Origin
  • The vehicle is older than 15 years of age

If your car does not meet 1 of these 2 conditions, it is only possible to request a permit for temporary import. Such a permit needs to be requested upon arrival in Canada. Please feel free to contact us for additional information.

When your car needs to be cleared by Customs, the final recipient needs to be present at our agent's office in Canada. Otherwise, the Customs Clearance cannot be completed and the car cannot be imported into Canada.
